I have been teaching math since 1986. I have experience in all levels of high school math, including 7 years of teaching Advanced Placement College level classes. Currently I am teaching Geometry, trigonometry and AP Statistics at St Benedict High School in Cordova. I have degrees in Mathematical Sciences and Statistics. During my experience as a tutor, I like dealing with the type of student who is willing to learn and put forth an effort. I like to show students how to solve the problem and then give them an opportunity to display what they have learned. Math is a difficult subject and it is important to learn the dynamics step by step. My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool.
