I am certified in Elementary Education as well as Specific Learning Disabilites with twenty four years experience. I have taught first grade for three years, third grade for nine years, and special education resource for twelve years. My special education experiences includes grades 1-8, inclusion, and writing web-based IEp's. Teaching has been my life--I give everything I can to the students I work with--enthusiasm, positive support, and preparation to the work study area.

I realize that, in order for a student to want to learn, the subject must be presented to them in an interesting way. I know I have the ability to make the subject relative to the child in a way that is both easy-to-understand, yet effective. I am extremely patient, enthuastic, and truly love the subject of English. The idea of helping a child who struggles with English or just doesn't like it in general appeals to me greatly. I honestly believe that every single child has the capability to learn and excel in any subject, when given the right guidance and tools.
I earned both my Bachelor's of Arts in English and my Master's of Science in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi. My teaching style totally depends on my student. Every one has a different learning style, and I try to be adaptable. I believe you must create a relaxed and and supportive atmosphere for the learner. Projecting a sense of confidence in the student goes a long way towards helping him/her achieve his/her educational goal. Lots of time the student has the skills but is not sure enough of himself/herself to proceed. I am just the prompter. I really enjoy sharing in the learning process and especially relish the moment when the student discovers his ability to learn and achieve.
Both of my parents were teachers so education is very important to me.
