My teaching/training experience includes 9 years of instruction to dental technicians from 60 branches in the United States and Canada. I began my study of American Sign Language (ASL) at the tender age of 12, then studied Latin in high school with Mrs. Ellen Conrad. When I reached college, I continued my study of ASL while tutoring friends in Latin. I have studied Arabic and Irish Gaelic at the college level, and dabbled in Spanish, Hawaiian Creole, and various African languages. In addition to learning, I love to teach. I began teaching ASL while I was still a high school student, and continue tutoring friends in ASL and Latin. As a college student, I began teaching and coaching fencing to all age groups, but specifically students in grades 6-12. My favorite aspect of coaching, teaching, and tutoring is the personal connection I build with my students. I have designed a classroom that supports these students in learning basic living skills, workshop skills, social skills, as well as, working on behavior goals. I have created IEP goals to match the needs of each student and I continually strive to ensure they succeed. I have received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Seton Hill Univeristy and I have experience in the general education classroom and Autistic support classroom. At the present time, I am teaching in a life skills classroom with students who have Autism. While attending the University of Pittsburgh I was able to experience my fielf studies and a year student teaching oppportunity at New England Elementary (West Mifflin PA). After school I was instructional assistant at McKeesport School District. This year I was a substitute teacher for Norwin, Penn-Trafford, Yough, and McKeesport School District. I always believe that the student can learn just as much from, or even more from, each other. Not just from the teacher alone.
