A Little Bit About Me...

On the computer and graphics side my teaching style is to get you up and running as quickly as possible. It was a skill I had to develop during my 6 years of teaching multimedia student. My teaching style for fine art is to show the student how to get in touch with the art inside of them and allow it to come through their hands. It is less about the technique of painting and more about the creative spirit being tapped into and learning to trust what happens on the medium.

My comments on tutoring Painting : Well versed in water colors, acrylic & oil painting media.

I like to figure out what a student really wants to know & why he/she has this desire. Then, I like to know how best they learn. We all take in information differently. For example, it's easy for me to retain info related to social studies, history, artwork & details about writing a good narrative. This IS NOT true for me when dealing with science subjects. So, when I endeavored to get the BEST grade that I could when taking a requisite science course in college, I had to spend 3Xs as much effort in my studies. (I got an 89%.) This reminded me that I can do my best & get good results. It also reminded wherein my intellectual strengths lie.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have grown up around my cousins' children and that has truly inspired me to go into teaching. I use a white board when teach people because I find people get less stressed out when working with a problem if there is less scribbles on the paper. I also have a strong belief that it only takes one good example to understand the problem so I give the people I tutor one really good generic example of the topic and tell them to copy it down and refer to that example often and I find that it helps a lot.
I have a variety of degrees and specialties but math is my strong suite. I have tutored friends with great results. I have helped people in math classes ranging from simple math to statistics and even college level math. I love math and English and I also love working with people of all ages and teaching them to love math as well. I feel that teachers make things more complicated than they need to be and I am great at simplifying explanations for people.
