Upon enrolling my children in school, I decided to be an active part of their education. So, I assisted their teachers with everything I could. Eventually, I became a trusted part of the school system (an honorary teacher, so to speak). They began giving me more responsibilities, concerning the children of the school. I tutored hundreds of students to increase their FCAT results, single-handedly; I corrected documents, daily; I worked on setting up the computers for the teachers and students, and I trained both to use them. 15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have a way of perceiving the difficulty the student has, and am able to explain the material in a simple way that makes it easy for students to grasp. I have a good rapport with my student and have had several that have told me that I am the best teacher they have ever had(which didn't hurt my ego!!) The last four years I have tutored at risk teenagers for a NY public school district. I also tutored privately. In NY I was a substitute teacher for K-12 which gave me experience in the different subject levels pursuant to each grade. As a SUNY Oneonta graduate, I sought to continue my goal of becoming an elementary school teacer. I became employed in Schenectady city school district, working in a magnet school for almost two years. As a first grade teacher, I became very experienced and well versed in balanced literacy frameworks. This passed year, all 22 of my students showed impressive gains in their reading/phonics skills assessment based on Fountas and Pinnell, that I was required to give three times a year. I believe each child/adult is different and each has a unique learning style. My teaching style will depend on each persons learning type. Some need very little direction before they get started and some need you to guide and direct them most of the time. I can do both and love watching that red light click on when someone finally understands the concept of something new.
