I just graduated from PLU with a degree in Business, a concentration in human resources, and a minor in psychology. I maintained a high GPA throughout my college experience and graduated with honors. From 2005 to 2008 I worked as a teacher and tutor for a Seattle-based test preparation firm. I taught classes for the SAT and GRE and tutored the SAT, GRE, and ACT. I believe I met and exceeded the high standards set by this organization. In 2008 I worked as a regional field director for the Obama campaign in several states, leading trainings in voter contact activities, campaign software systems, and other volunteer activities. Everyone has the ability to learn but not everyone has the same ability. Most people are visual or tactile learners whereas most teachers, in my experience, use verbal/aural instruction methods. I believe in tailoring my teaching to the needs of the student and not to what I am most relaxed with. I have personally taught several tactile students who had to have something in their hands or they could not grasp the concepts. Other times I've instructed students in strong visual methods incorporating drawings, artwork and short videos. During my studies at USU I worked at Adams Elementary both as a Teachers Aid as well as a Mentor during the After School Program. I worked one-on-one as well as in groups of students grade k-5.
