Experience Summary
During my studies at USU I worked at Adams Elementary both as a Teachers Aid as well as a Mentor during the After School Program. I worked one-on-one as well as in groups of students grade k-5. This position was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable that I've had and would love to continue.
I have also taught American Sign Language at the University in their ASL Labs for a year.
Teaching Style
Everyone has the ability to learn but not everyone has the same ability. Most people are visual or tactile learners whereas most teachers, in my experience, use verbal/aural instruction methods. I believe in tailoring my teaching to the needs of the student and not to what I am most relaxed with. I have personally taught several tactile students who had to have something in their hands or they could not grasp the concepts. Other times I've instructed students in strong visual methods incorporating drawings, artwork and short videos.
