I've been a music teacher, performer and composer for over 30 years. I didn't always know I wanted to be a musician, but it was my first music teacher who helped me to open up and see my talent. I went on to study music further and got a Master's Degree in Music Performance and Education. I find great pleasure in teaching because it is what I simply love to do. I believe that too many students find math challenging because of the way they are taught. Too many teachers have made it not fun and frustrating and are unwilling to explain the "whys", which can make a big difference to a child. This may be due to lack of understanding on the teacher's part, but I believe strongly that a solid education, especially in all areas of math, will help with problem solving and many other "real life" situations that can arise.
