I teach using centers and small groups based on the students learning style and level. I worked with 5th graders during a Reading and Social Studies student teaching. I also taught first grade for 7 years. The first two years were in an At-Risk class and an Inclusion class. The last four years of teaching, I taught an accelerated first grade class and curriculum. I believe that a child cannot fully come to comprehend subject matter without having a chance to be immersed in it first. This philosophy lends to the hands-on, question-oriented form of teaching that I so firmly stand by. Although I have never formally taught in a classroom on my own, I did assist in teaching a few of the classes I took during my first degree schoolwork while working toward my Bachelor Degree in Accounting.
