I double-majored in biology in chemistry in undergrad, so the field of science and medicine is my first love and my strength. While at Virginia Tech, I dedicated much of my time to volunteering. Here I fell in love with serving others. During this time, one of the programs I volunteered for was an after-school teaching program. Here, I tutored elementary-aged children in english, science, and math. I enjoy helping others learn! I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process.
