ASVAB Tutoring

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple choice test, administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command. Looking for help? Select a tutor today. AFQT(combined ASVAB scores) required minimum scores for people with a high school diploma as of May 2011 are as follows: Air Force (AFQT) 50 (GED is 65), Air National Guard (AFQT) 31 (GED Graduate is 50), Coast Guard (AFQT) 40 (GED is 50), Navy (AFQT) 50 (or 65 with GED), Marines (AFQT) 32 (or 50 with GED), Army (AFQT) 31. My comments on tutoring ASVAB: Math portion

I have a been tutoring math on at least a part-time basis for over 20 years. I have a degree in Psychology and another in Geomatics (Surveying and Mapping - heavy on mathematics) from the University of Florida. I have received a perfect score on the math portion of the GRE (Graduate Record Examination). Let me put that experience to work for you! I am very patient, but I expect you to work to his or her full ability and to be honest about your weak points. If you can do most of the work on your own and come to me with what you truly have problems with, out time together will be much more productive.

I almost joined the military after college. I was in the Navy ROTC program for four years, and then decided at the last minute that I wanted to be an engineer in the private sector. However, before I realized that the ASVAB was not required to go into the ROTC program, I took it. I received a 98/100 score, which would have qualified me for any job I would have possibly wanted in the military. As far as the subject matter goes, the ASVAB is hardly any more difficult than the ACT or SAT. In fact, I would argue that it's a great deal easier. However, for those not knowing what to expect it can be intimidating, which is why most people make their mistakes on it. My goal is to help minimize the amount of mistakes that you (or your student) are prone to make on the ASVAB by instilling a familiarity for the subject matter, and helping the student get the best score possible! Greetings on

A teaching style developed over many years as a registered nurse and military NCO and officer affords me the opportunity to boast that I truly believe in the diverse talents of every person. Each student possesses a unique range of talents; however, each has his or her weaknesses as well. Tapping into one's talents and using that talent to learn new concepts associated with those weaknesses is the key to successful learning and sustained retention of information. Learning is fun; it is not fun when the student feels inadequate, insecure or scrutinized. Recognizing a student's talents is the first element in teaching, since failure to do so provides no solid foundation upon which to build. As both a registered nurse and a retired Navy officer, I am an avid practitioner of lifelong learning and a zealous teacher who has vast experience in teaching students in military and private setti

Every subject has its own teaching style, yet there are some consistencies throughout. I teach based on how the student learns. This may require adapting typical styles to meet the individual student's needs.  You or your child will benefit from my focus on repetition and consistency, yet at the same time my desire for a variety of learning techniques. I encourage every student to do his or her own best work before bringing it to me, then allow me to help enhance his or her work to help the student excel.  It is my firm belief that every student has the potential to excel with the right environment, style, and motivation. It is my goal to figure out what this is for you or your child and provide you the opportunity to do so. In every subject I am qualified to tutor I have taken high school, college, graduate, and/or professional courses and earned at least a "B+" (91%), with except

I graduated from UNF in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in the field of Management. The degree required classes in Accounting, Finance, Algebra and Economics. Mathematics has risen to be one of my preferred subjects, tutoring this subject for a year to date. I do believe that all children have the ability to learn the subjects however not all children are in the right mind to do so. My goal is to show in real world, understandable terms the subjects we will work on. I believe that if a child is explained the rules in terms and words he/she understands, then he/she will grasp the material and carry it with them into the future rather than trying to cram for an exam with no retention.

Teaching is important to every individual no matter what age. The learning experience is never-ending. Children are very important to me as they are the future. Also if it weren't for my wonderful teachers I would have hated the academic process. It is important to note that no matter how far a student is behind nor how hard it is to recognize concepts I am beyond patient when explaining ideas and concepts. The personal approach is the most formative for an individual. When teaching elementary students it is important to in a stress free quiet environment where a student can be open to asking questions. I would identify specific students needs and formulate a stimulating and constructive approach to ensure their capabilities as students. Although my undergrad degree is not the most prevailing, I have strong abilities in math. I have tutored many individuals throughout my life. My experie

I love teaching and working with young minds. I believe anyone can learn and meet his or her potential if he or she is given the opportunity. I am patient, easy going, and considerate to the needs of the learner. I hope to make a difference in a student's life and I am available to help you find academic success. As a graduate of Southwestern College, I was very much driven by a high level of excellence in education. While on active duty in the military, I completed my BS in Human Resource Development and I received Magna Cum Laude honors. I began teaching in 1998. My previous job was taken away by forces of nature. I had taken advantage of the Military Troops to Teachers Program with no clear pathway to practice. Until I found myself with a possibility of unemployment. I I applied at a correctional facility and I was hired over the next week. Hence my introduction to the classroom and the world of academia. Over the next five years I was fortunate enough to teach both classroom and computer lab, loving the challenges and accomplishments more and more everyday. My students were adult learners whom appreciated accomplishing life goals. I continued educating over the next seven years with results that were uplifting and inspirational. Teaching requires a heart. My teaching style is a type of facilitator approach. I realize the with every classroom there is middle level of learners the same as lower and higher achiever
