Testing Skills is one of my top subjects! I am passionate about the 'non-traditional' ways to prepare and score better on standarized tests.

I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. I am currently trying to obtain my credential and hope to be an Athletic Director one day.
My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student. In addition, the subject that I am teaching also affects my style and some 'tools' that I learned as a youngster and a teacher are also implemented frequently.

Using the Right Methods to Unlock a Students Full Potential!

I've always enjoyed helping others understand mathematics. During my high school years i would voluntarily help my friends, and the classmates near me keep up with class lectures and provide them with tips to help them complete take home assignments. I know the importance of having a personalized method of teaching according to the individual and their specific needs. No one learns the same so we should not be taught the same!
Most of the students who require tutoring have trouble building on previous lessons they have learned. The problem is if a student fails to learn a concept in class by the time the teacher moves on, he/she will be left behind from that point on. The job of a tutor is to find these hold ups and patch them with a customized lesson plan to fit the students learning patterns. This is what i will do and i personally promise results in under a month

I tutored all my college years and realized that this is exactly what I want to wake up for every day. I earned my BS and single subject in Mathematics from Fresno State University. My experience in the teaching field has been primarily as a substitute on a daily basis. I have some long-term sub assignments in my resume as well. For the past 7 years I have limited my assignments to "Home/Hospital". I meet 5 hours per week with each student to provide complete instruction in all subject areas for the student(s) unable to be in the regular classroom setting due to illness. It is very much a tutoring situation as 5 hours per week is not nearly enough to provide the detailed instruction available on a daily basis.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13.
