I have used sign language since I was about 13 years of age and it became a passion of mine. I took many American Sign Language classes, to which almost all my professors are Deaf. I have gone to many Deaf events with my sister. I have been working towards becoming a Sign Language Interpreter for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I have worked with many groups of children from grades k-12. My main focus is working with elementary students. Most of my experience is working with grades k-6. My number one field is math. I have spent the last two years in college and have gained my associates degree in ASL. I aspire to become a teacher of ASL at the high school level. I enjoy signing and aim to share my enjoyment with others learning the language. I don't pretend to be perfect at it nor will I expect others to be so. We all learn at different paces and different ways. This skill takes time just as much as any other. My instructors have encouraged me to push myself and learn as much as I can. I prefer to instruct by example. I found that with sign watching and repeating work best. I like to work with the person at their pace. Running through the material as fast as possible helps no one.
