As an honor student from the moment I entered school, I have been aware of the importance of education and the "no child left behind" policy. Although I have chosen the financial field for furthering myself, my love for helping students is undeniable. I always helped my peers through schooling, and in response have learned many communication skills needed. Regardless of student age, I am able to mold to their abilities and needs.
Direct and understanding of any needs.

Testing Skills is one of my top subjects! I am passionate about the 'non-traditional' ways to prepare and score better on standarized tests.

I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. I am currently trying to obtain my credential and hope to be an Athletic Director one day.
My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student. In addition, the subject that I am teaching also affects my style and some 'tools' that I learned as a youngster and a teacher are also implemented frequently.

Using the Right Methods to Unlock a Students Full Potential!

Most of the students who require tutoring have trouble building on previous lessons they have learned. The problem is if a student fails to learn a concept in class by the time the teacher moves on, he/she will be left behind from that point on. The job of a tutor is to find these hold ups and patch them with a customized lesson plan to fit the students learning patterns. This is what i will do and i personally promise results in under a month
I've always enjoyed helping others understand mathematics. During my high school years i would voluntarily help my friends, and the classmates near me keep up with class lectures and provide them with tips to help them complete take home assignments. I know the importance of having a personalized method of teaching according to the individual and their specific needs. No one learns the same so we should not be taught the same!

I think each student is differnt and so is their learning style. As a teacher I want my student to find their confidence in math which mostly comes when they understand the subject completely. I not only have lot of experience under my belt but since I compelted part of studies in a different school system, I am able to explain one problem in several different ways. They say "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink it". As a teacher it is my job to make them thirsty for math so they won't be able to resist that water of knowledge.
I stated tutoring privately and through the college when I was a student myself to see if teaching was something I wanted to do as a career. I tutored all my college years and realized that this is exactly what I want to wake up for every day. I earned my BS and single subject in Mathematics from Fresno State University. A Little Bit About Me...

My approach in teaching is unique. I have an autistic sibling and a son with an individualized education program, so my understanding of approaching children is on an individual basis. With my personal and professional experience, I have learned to be patient, understanding, friendly, and have a helpful attitude. My goal is to have every child try to surpass their zone of proximal development with my assistance. I have a pretty good sense as to how children approach learning; visually, hands-on, hearing, etc...I appreciate every child's potential because they are our future. Thus, I strive to help them find their confidence in education.
As a recent graduate from UC Berkeley, I have always held the upmost interest and passion in helping students achieve the best they could. I received my degree in American studies, this degree is designed to allow students to create their own educ ... read more

My teaching style is very unique. I start off by just getting to know the student and having them get to know and trust me. I then build on that trust factor while helping the students with their homework. I connect well with students and they trust me. In the end, it seems to be the best way the students I work with learn and finish their work. Learning should be fun and not boring. It should be interactive and not just book work. If a student can experience learning first hand, they're bound to acquire enough knowledge to help them succeed.

I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals. Also, in my undergrad experience, I excelled in writing and was very good with meeting deadlines.
I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
