I feel making cards, highlighting, reading out loud helps greatly. Just having someone there that can help you is a wonderful thong to have I am a high school graduate. I am looking at furthering my schooling in art. I love children and the honesty about them. I feel as if someone teaching or learning by someone their own age can make a big difference. I have been a student mentor for many teenagers and younger children not only through school but through Facebook. Many students come to me with questions about school, family, and just life in general. They know they can trust me to give the best advice I can. ( which also includes sometimes telling their parents if they are hurting themselves or being hurt) I am a responsible person.

I then went out east to nanny for identical twins with Down Syndrome for a year which gave me experience with children not only academically but on a day to day basis as well as rooted me well in understanding children with special needs. From 1980-1989 I worked as a Program Coordinator for a Developmental Achievement Center for mentally handicapped adults. My responsibilities included teaching, preparing learning materials for basic reading, personal finance, and vocational skills, implementing behavior programs, supervising 7 staff members, and writing quarterly lesson plans and progress reports. I also spent a couple of hours per week for 2 years, tutoring my blind supervisor on the use of computers. In 1992, I went back to college to pursue my true passion, and earned a degree in mathematics and computer science.
