I believe all children can learn, but that all children learn differently. Having taught special education, I had a range of grade levels in my class. Very often the students would be spread out over three grade levels. Because of this, I am extremely good at tailoring my instruction to different levels and learning types. I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think of whats going on in the tree, right down to the point of the tree taking in carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen and water. Why is the tree giving off water. most people do not know that the tree is making water because it is attaching hydrogen to the oxygen to get rid of the hydrogen, acid. I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. However, I believe that by teaching intuitive thought processes and critical thinking skills, students can easily adapt to the tasks given be they in science or liberal arts. While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. I truly enjoy working with children and would love to go back to school and obtain my Masters in education. I feel that each child has their own way of connecting to education and it's a magic moment when you, the teacher, find and help them utilize that connection. I don't think I can claim a specific teaching "style" just yet; I simply don't have enough experience to define myself in that regard. Besides, no single "style" or method is going to work with any given student. Everyone is different. These skills were indispensable during my postgraduate work in Archaeology. During a five year career as a professional archaeologist I have authored many reports and presented academic papers at conferences. I have a keen awareness of how to introduce new students to complex information because I've had the opportunity to participate in teaching high school students and undergraduates about field archaeology and artifact analysis. My teaching style is extremely dependent on the individual student, and what their particular situation calls for.
