Experience Summary
At the moment, my experience is admittedly limited. I graduated with a History degree from UGA. I was a substitute teacher at Savannah Country Day School during the entire 2006-2007 school year. Since then I have enjoyed a career in sales, which I have enjoyed immensely. Both of my parents are teachers, and I hope to find a full time position for the 11-12 school year. Until then, I hope I can help as many students as possible as a tutor. My areas of expertise include military history, from ancient Greece to modern conflicts. I read passionately in my spare time. American history is probably my strongest area, but I am willing to do the required research to help anyone in any other field.
Teaching Style
I don't think I can claim a specific teaching "style" just yet; I simply don't have enough experience to define myself in that regard. Besides, no single "style" or method is going to work with any given student. Everyone is different. My sales background gave me the chance to hone my skills in reading a person, and then proceeding accordingly with each individual. What I hope to do is engage a student in a conversation about the topic, and get their interest in that manner. I am laid-back and very easy to talk to, with a passion for making history as fun as possible. I'm 28 and relate well to kids. History sometimes gets labeled (unfairly) as "boring", when in fact it is the most fun! As a tutor, I hope to share my enthusiasm.
