A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a full-time (and quite busy) professional tutor for the past five years. I currently work as an independent tutor through The Tutor Connection and Wyzant, as well as my personal tutoring service. While living in California in 2007, I was employed by the San Diego Board of Education as a tutor for the AVID program, a group style tutoring initiative to assist high school students with difficulties and increase their motivation to learn. Upon my return to Knoxville, before becoming a full-time private tutor, I tutored U.T. student athletes as an employee of the University of Tennessee. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a PhD candidate in Ecology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Throughout my education and short career I have developed teaching skills through tutoring, teaching labs to middle school students, mentoring high school students and giving informational talks on environmental issues to the public. I enjoy teaching and I feel that I have a gift for explaining science and math to people unexperienced in these subjects.

During my time as a student at LMU and UT, I have become very comfortable with public speaking and conveying complex scientific principles and methods to demonstrate my research findings. Once I martriculated to the University of Tennessee to start my Masters program, I was often invited to teach about fish and aquatic insects and riverine dynamics and ecology, to elementary and high school kids during "Kids in the Creek" events.
