English and Writing Tutor

I am a senior at the University of Tennessee and am majoring in Architecture. Coming from a background of advanced English classes at Oak Ridge High school, writing and composition is my strong suit. I have tutored an architecture student who was taking a writing intensive essay course on "Theory of Architecture" and helped her sharply improve her weekly grades on papers. Also, during my freshman year in college, my summer reading essay was chosen as one of the top out of thousands of incoming freshmen. My comments on tutoring English : I have a bachelors degree in English from Lincoln Memorial University. I recieved a 3.486 GPA with a 3.9 within my major. I never made anything below an A in any English class, no matter how challenging.

I have been tutoring both peers and high school students during my stay at Lincoln Memorial University. Students regularly asked me to proofread their papers, and parents frequently contacted me for help with high school students senior research papers. I graduated from Roane County High School in 2009 with high honors, and was one of the top 2 students selected to win the Scholarship for Academic Services award from Roane State Community College. I went to RSCC for 2 years where I got my Associate of Science degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude (high honors). While there, I also worked in the college library and assisted librarians and students with needs. My comments on tutoring English : Have taught English as a second language to elementary and middle school school students. Not certified ELL

I believe in meeting a student at whatever level he or she is ready to work. I am friendly and like to develop a personal relationship with my students in order to know how to serve them better. I use technology as appropriate.
I began my career teaching music to students in grades K-8. I have always loved the Special Needs students and thus chose to pursue my Master's degree in the Special Education field. My first Special Ed. assignment was for ADHD and LD students in 7th grade Math and Language Arts. From there I have progressed to being the Lead teacher in inclusion settings as both the regular education teacher and the special education teacher.
