I have over 15 years of full time teaching experience in a combination of grades, K, 2, 3, and 4. I moved from teaching within a classroom to accepting a reading specialist position in a high poverty district. I taught reading interventions for three years before being asked to step in to an instructional coach roll for teachers. This is my current full-time position and I provide feedback and support to elementary teachers in the area of practice, data analysis, Common core methodology, rigor and appropriate curriculum development as well as selection and delivery of instruction. While in college I have gained experince in and out of the classroom. I have worked with children for a total of eight years. I believe anyone can learn. Some may have to work harder at it than others. With others you may need to find different approaches but anyone can learn. In my classrooms I teach the individual students not the class. The biggest challenge for a teacher is giving the students the confidence that they can learn. Teach a student how to learn and he will learn anything he wants to. I was a teacher at a Christian Boarding school in California for 27 years. One of my greatest tools has been mathematics. I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems. At Boise State University I was the coordinator and facilitator for the Active Learning in Mathematics Program, I lead a twelve member engineering student team and coordinated twenty plus math sessions.
