I've been teaching high school math for 18 years, and AP Statistics for 12 of those. I have had high success rates in my classes on the AP exam and really like the subject. I tutor my own students for free after school and am very successful at helping those that struggle with statistics. This really depends on the subject, however, I like to do drills to keep basic skills sharp, and to learn new skills. Each student is different, and will need slightly adjusted methodology. I'm also very open to suggestion. I am a few years out of high school, and I've taken several college classes. My AP knowledge spans almost every subject. Math has always been an achievement of mine. I went to school and started out for an engineering degree, completing all the math including hard calculus. When I got to the university level I thought a business degree would be better as it is used in all types of businesses. So on top of taking hard calc, I took business calc, accounting, finance, and economics classes which all focus on math. I have no real teaching style as I have never really taught anyone. Mathematics is a field that extends beyond a series of procedures as it taught far too widely these days. My stress is on conceptual understanding, as it is the key to understanding the subject. Even moreso than the procedures that we have been accustomed to viewing as being the core of Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, conceputal underpinnings are what the make the subject meaningful.
