A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. I also worked in a High School writing center and tutored for the past two semesters. I love being around kids and helping them. Currently I live in Tahoe City, but am more than willing to drive to Reno or other areas as well.
I have a fairly easy going personality, but know when to crack down if students are getting off topic or out of hand. I'm very approachable and happy.

I have an extended experience in teaching English as a Second Language. I have taught all the language skills courses at the undergraduate university level. I have taught many core subjects as well. I have been teaching for more than 10 years. My experience encompass teaching students from diverse ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds. I believe that all students can learn. One must know their learning preferences that would help them learn better. I use pair and group learning as well, because sometimes students can learn by debating amongst each other.
