I use communicative student learning approach to enable students learn and improve their proficiency in the targetted language.
I have an extended experience in teaching English as a Second Language. I have taught all the language skills courses at the undergraduate university level. I have taught many core subjects as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a fairly easy going personality, but know when to crack down if students are getting off topic or out of hand. I'm very approachable and happy.
I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. I also worked in a High School writing center and tutored for the past two semesters. I love being around kids and helping them. Currently I live in Tahoe City, but am more than willing to drive to Reno or other areas as well.

Learning can be fun!

My style is a learner centered one. I believe in guided learning, where the students make discoveries themselves while at the same time feeling supported and directed. I believe that everyone can learn, and discovering each student's style of learning while promoting confidence is very important to me.
I am currently teaching English as a second language to post-secondary international students at California State University Sacramento. I teach all areas of English, including grammar, composition, reading, and listening and speaking skills.
