Reluctant & Struggling Readers can become Good Readers!

I worked for 12 years as a Special Education teacher in the public school system, teaching students with ADD, learning disabilities, autism, Aspergers, emotional and behavior disorders, and mild intellectual disabilities in a resource room and inclusion setting. I am able to quickly make significant connections with the students, building the good rapport that is essential to achieving a good working relationship. I especially enjoy working with reluctant and struggling readers, and nothing makes me happier than to see them overcome the obstacles that have kept them from success.

I graduated high school in 2008. I then attended West Ga Tech., for over a year. I majored in technical communications and took numerous computer classes. I love computers and Math. Those are my two favorite subjects but I am pretty well rounded, there's not much I can't do. I'm very self motivated and enjoy helping people better themselves. I work full time right now as a staffing agent, helping people get jobs. I'm only 22 recently out of college so most of the school subjects are still fresh in my memory.

Elementary Study Skills is one of my top subjects! I believe that children should study in the same place and time each day. This will give them a good habit that will encourage learning. I know this works because I studied this way throughout my school years.

My teaching style is using all our senses. If you can touch, taste, see, feel, and hear what you are engaged in, you will retain it for a long time.
I have taught children for over 20 years, including my own two children and grandchildren. I love teaching and working with children and their parents. I have received a number of awards in my Professional life as well as my social activities in my community. I also founded and started a business (Rainbow Consulting Services) in 2005. I used this business to promote literacy to children grades Pre-K-5th grades. I enjoy watching students learn!!

I have taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. I was a teacher for 9 years. I just recently decided to resign from my teaching position to stay at home with my four year old son. I am enjoying my time with him. I am teaching him all the wonderful things that I didn't think I was going to be able to. I do miss teaching and watching my students learn.
