I think that I can teach what I really know, and Mathematics are the topic that I know the best, so with that in mind I am able to share my knowledge to anybody, since I am confident with the topics I understand, adding to this the fact that I like to teach something that I have done since I was in elementary school with my close friends and after to teach to adults in school for adults.
As a graduate students at the University of Utah at the Economics department, and also as a Civil Engineer I have been exposed to many professional presentations to explain technical projects, as well as theoretical topics especially at graduate level where different economics perspectives have to be explained. Finally as a Civil Engineer I have had the chance to develop my math skills with courses such as: Calculus I, II, III and Differential Equations, and Statistics.

Education has been a major goal in my life and as I achieve that goal I find my self transitioning into helping others with the same goal. Aside from 10 years experience in my industry I have a Bachelors degree in Business Finance and an MBA in Finance and Financial Planning. During my career I have always played a service role of educating our clients and customers on finance, banking, trading, computers, economics, and other areas. Aside from teaching my own children ages 5, 3 and 2 I am constantly involved with youth programs. Between the youth programs I participate in and my volunteer work I have gained excellent communication skills allowing me to communicate with different ages, backgrounds, languages, and disabilities.

My teaching style is actually very fluid and relates specifically to the people that I am currently teaching. Every person learns differently, as such, a wide range of teaching styles is required to teach a wide range of people. As a tutor, I was able to develop my teaching skills in a wide range of areas (including: analogies, step/progression, fundamental-based teaching and increasingly narrowed focus) that have helped me teach many different people with many different backgrounds not only math, but also physics and biology as well.
While a Biological Sciences major at Brigham Young University Idaho I took several different math courses that were above and beyond those required for my degree. I excelled at each of the classes that I took, and was actually recruited by my calculus teacher to become a statistics and calculus tutor at the university math lab. A Little Bit About Me...

I have yet to complete my senior year of studies at the University but I will be done by Spring 2011. I am working towards my first Bachelors Degree, BS in Physics and will continue with school after until I get my MS in Chemical Engineering. Physics and Chemistry have always come easy to me and I know that because of this I can help others understand these sometimes tougher subjects easier.
My teaching style might be a bit unorthodox but it is something I have acquired from past teachers and tutors. I have not helped or tutored in a while but I believe I have an easy and simple approach to it. When it comes to physics and chemistry, the math can be learned over night, the concepts are most critical. You can't read a problem and interpret the question word for word. You have to find a way to relate it to real life and what you see everyday. A spinning disk becomes a truck tire, a s ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

A teacher should treat their students as consumers. As consumers those students need to have their needs and expectations met. Every student learns differently and expects the instructor to be the expert in the subject matter. Being that expert the instructor should have and show a passion for the subject that makes the students want to know more. Each student is a valuable member of the class and as such has valuable experience and opinions that can enrich the class. The instructor should provide ample opportunity for student questions and discussion. The educator’s role goes beyond delivering the curriculum. The instructor should make the learning relevant to real life experiences. The instructor should provide differentiated instruction, timely feedback, and should aid in the students’ development academically and professionally. Students should be aspired to be quality teachers a ... read more

Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved learning. This passion for learning new things has given me the motivation to earn my Bachelor's degree in Humanities (emphasis: Music) as well as my Master's degree in Comparative studies. Through the writing and publication of my thesis, I have gained valuable experience editing, researching, and proofreading as well as learning analytical and critical thinking skills. As a Humanities major with an emphasis area in Music as well as a French minor, my undergraduate education has prepared me to be able to teach a wide array of subjects.
I love seeing people learn. I love the look in a student's eye when they think about something in a way they've never thought about it before. I love to facilitate that type of learning because it brings me great satisfaction. I especially love to work with children because they are so willing to learn and ... read more

I love working with children and kids of all ages. My teaching methods include asking many questions to encourage children to reach for the answer(s) as well as to make the subjects as fun and as interesting as possible. I have the ability to reach the child on their level. I always give praise for effort as well as for trying and encourage those that I tutor, to strive for knowledge. I feel that education is of the utmost importance in a child's life to help them develop and grow properly.

In 2003 I returned home from a two-year church service mission in Romania. My time in Romania was mostly spent in the homes of ordinary families where I taught parent and child alike the principles of Christianity. Upon my return I attended, and graduated from, Brigham Young University where I learned the governing laws of the universe. My studies in math and physics (with an emphasis in astronomy) allowed me to gain the confidence I needed to return my knowledge to younger students as their tutor and teaching assistant. This last year I have been studying Geophysics at the University of Utah as a graduate student and was rewarded with the opportunity of teaching two sections of undergraduate physics lab.
As a college student, I understand the difficulties and frustrations that arise from feeling ignorant at times. It is important to me, when I teach, that my student feels reassure ... read more

For the last two years I have enjoyed working at the Brigham Young University -Hawaii Reading Writing Center as a tutor and center manager. I worked as a math tutor while attending Weber State University. I have been certified a master tutor according to CRLA guidelines. I have tutored beginning Algebra through Calculus 3. This experience has helped me retain the knowledge I have acquired as well as help form a great foundation that has served me well as I earned my BS degree in Chemical Engineering.
I have been trained in using the Socratic Method of teaching which entails using questions to prompt the students memory and help them further be able to solve problems on their own. I also work out examples to further illustrate concepts to help them think through the problems they are working on.

A Little Bit About Me...

I can explain difficult things and make them easy to understand. When I taught a math class at Weber State, my students would ask me why other teachers wouldn't just 'say' things so simply like I did. It felt very good to be so complimented, and it was exciting to see them understand those math concepts for the first time. I'm also told I have a lot of patience. I appreciate that as well, and believe that is important.
When I was attending Weber State University I tutored students in mathematics, and later on I actually had the opportunity to teach a math class there. I've had the chance to train employees at work too. The most fun I've had with teaching, though, is when a friend or relative is referred to me for help, and I can help that person understand the material one-on-one.

One of the most fulfilling feelings in life is to see a person’s face light up because of a concept finally understood, and that is what I look forward to seeing in those whom I tutor. I love learning. I love science. I love explaining how things work. I am easy going. I am patient. Thank you in advance for your confidence and trust.
I have earned a Bachelors of Science degree in physics, and minored in mathematics at Weber State University. During my years in college I was a physics lab assistant for a year. Some of the duties as a lab assistant were to answer students’ questions and help them understand the fundamental principles of physics. I also worked at a Skills Enhancement Center on campus tutoring mathematics. I tutored students taking classes from basic algebra to calculus.
