Best Tutoring By Far.....

I enjoy teaching any age student, but more than that I get satisfaction when that student attains their goal. I believe in using the Socratic method of teaching and allowing the student to get their own answers rather than just telling them. I seek to develop and foster great students who will attain excellent careers. This method can be adapted to fit any student of any age.
I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. My comments on tutoring Testing Skills : I have spent many years working with small groups in k-5 preparing them with skills and strategies to use on their specific assessment. For students in k-3 who are being tested using mClass and Reading 3D, I have worked as part of the "Assessment Team", and also provided professional development for teachers. I have also spent many years working with students in grades 3-5, helping prepare them for eog's. I have collected many materials throughout the years and studied closely the best ways to help prepare for eogs.

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist. I worked as a Reading Teacher for five years, focusing on grades first through third. I also served as a K-2 Instructional Coach. I have enjoyed guiding children through the stages of reading, beginning with letter recognition and book and print awareness, to successfully completing End of Grade tests. My most recent experience has been helping teach a couple students being homeschooled! What an exciting experience! Unfortunately, the family is moving out of state. Our one on one learning experiences were extremely successful! I’d love to have the opportunity to participate in homeschool teaching again!

"He who opens a school door, closes a prison." -Victor Hugo-

Currently a sophomore in High School, I'm looking to tutor up to around the 6-7th grade levels. I have very much experience in science especially. Currently in biology Honors. Math, Science, Civics, and Art are my main specialties. For a cheaper rate, I also love to teach art. Also language-wise. I have a year of French, as well as a semi-year of Spanish that I can teach beginners, perhaps give them a head start on what is to be in High School. Lastly, I’m fairly understanding in test preparation and strategies even so keeping organized.

I love when I can help others!

My teaching style is more hands on because that's how I learned fastest when I was in school.
I am going to school to become a teacher in the grades of kindergarten through 5th, I have been a nanny for several people and have enjoyed it completely! During my nanny duties, I would of course have a home-schooling section and would also help around the house when needed, so I think that I am a very good candidate for teaching basics and other subjects to help kids better themselves and their studies!

A Little Bit About Me...

As a St. Bonaventure University graduate, I spent two years as an Elementary Education major and finished my degree as an English major. Rigorous English classes, many hours of essay writing, and teaching Language Arts for two years, have helped me to master writing skills as well as teaching skills needed to ensure proper learning. I tutored students at an after school program in college as part of my Elementary Education major requirements. I would meet with students three times a week and help them with any homework assignment and or subject they were struggling with. After college, I took a position as a Language Arts teacher for 8th grade students. This experience has been both challenging and rewarding and has helped to better understand how to be an effective teacher.
I have always enjoyed being around children. Being able to help shape young minds and ensure that students a ... read more

I really enjoy working with students. My teaching philosophy is that all children can learn. I subscribe to the constructivism approach to teaching. This is where students scaffold their own knowledge from other experiences. I believe that if you can get a student interested in something they are more likely to enjoy what they are learning about and are more likely to be successful. I am cheerful, kind and enthusiastic which I also feel help encourage students to be successful learners.

I have a very unique teaching style that enables my students to have fun while learning. I can easily see the individual needs of all of the students I teach. Each and every student that I teach is first and foremost a human being. I treat them as I would like my own children to be treated. I understand that what will appeal to one child will not necessarily work with another. I feel that creating a mutually respectful relationship is fundamental in being able to really reach and teach a child.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that all students possess the potential to learn. Teaching should be done in a multisensory method to appeal to students' senses and to help them succeed as best as they can. Each student is an individual and should be treated with respect. The learning environment that teachers provide should be nurturing, structured, and interesting to allow for students to reach their full potentials. While every student may have some weaknesses, concentrating on a student's strengths is important to help them enjoy school and find success.
