My comments on tutoring Testing Skills : I have spent many years working with small groups in k-5 preparing them with skills and strategies to use on their specific assessment. For students in k-3 who are being tested using mClass and Reading 3D, I have worked as part of the "Assessment Team", and also provided professional development for teachers. I have also spent many years working with students in grades 3-5, helping prepare them for eog's. I have collected many materials throughout the years and studied closely the best ways to help prepare for eogs.

I have taught in a first and second grade classroom for ten years, and served as a Reading Specialist for k-5 for seven. I have discovered that the most successful way to teach a child how to read is gaining their interest and full attention, while observing what learning style is best for each individual child. While teaching I use an assortment of manipulatives, repetitive phonics instruction, and books! Whatever works for your child, works for me! This is my first year not teaching in the public schools, and I am very familiar with the assessments and expectations. I have led professional development on mclass for K-3, and have years of successful experiences in preparing students for EOGs. Therefore, I also keep the expectations required from the school in mind when planning lessons. References from local schools available.

Currently a sophomore in High School, I'm looking to tutor up to around the 6-7th grade levels. I have very much experience in science especially. Currently in biology Honors. Math, Science, Civics, and Art are my main specialties. For a cheaper rate, I also love to teach art. Also language-wise. I have a year of French, as well as a semi-year of Spanish that I can teach beginners, perhaps give them a head start on what is to be in High School. Lastly, I’m fairly understanding in test preparation and strategies even so keeping organized.

My first tutoring experience was in my freshman year of college. I tutored basic college algebra and calculus. Having earned two bachelor degrees in both math and physics. I feel I have a good understanding of not only the theory but also the applications of math to science. Tutoring both privately and publicly has also increased my speaking and presentation abilities. I have also tutored test taking strategies for the SAT, ACT, and GRE. In my years tutoring I have tutored middle school through graduate level courses. As a St. Bonaventure University graduate, I spent two years as an Elementary Education major and finished my degree as an English major. Rigorous English classes, many hours of essay writing, and teaching Language Arts for two years, have helped me to master writing skills as well as teaching skills needed to ensure proper learning. I tutored students at an after school program in college as part of my Elementary Education major requirements. I would meet with students three times a week and help them with any homework assignment and or subject they were struggling with. After college, I took a position as a Language Arts teacher for 8th grade students. This experience has been both challenging and rewarding and has helped to better understand how to be an effective teacher.
I have always enjoyed being around children. Being able to help shape young minds and ensure that students a ... read more

As a Fayetteville State University undergraduate, I did a lot of volunteer work with high school student. I also worked in the school's computer lab assisting students with classwork and homework. I have tutored students for the SATs. My specific field is English but I can also tutor in Spanish. There have been many teachers throughout my career as a student that have greatly motivated me to succeed and I genuinely want to do the same for others.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that all students possess the potential to learn. Teaching should be done in a multisensory method to appeal to students' senses and to help them succeed as best as they can. Each student is an individual and should be treated with respect. The learning environment that teachers provide should be nurturing, structured, and interesting to allow for students to reach their full potentials. While every student may have some weaknesses, concentrating on a student's strengths is important to help them enjoy school and find success.

I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else.
