My comments on tutoring Physics : I teach: Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work- Power- Energy, Gravitation, Mechanical and Thermal properties, Properties of Liquid, Simple Harmonic Motion, Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, Ray Optics, Wave Optics, Dual nature of wave and Particles, Atoms and Nuclei.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE: I have been teaching Physics to Engineering and Medical college aspirants since 2002 Several of my students cleared entrance examinations and joined prestigious engineering and medical institutions. I have taught in one-to-one, group tutoring and online tutoring. I have also coached Engineering students in subjects which are offshoots of Physics- ? Engineering Drawing, ? Engineering Mechanics ? Kinematics Of Machine, ? Machine Design, ? Dynamics of Machine etc.
I take pride in my teaching methodology, my presentation and communication skills and the way I make subject easily understandable. I firmly believe that explaining the basics and making it understood is the most essential aspect of coaching. I ensure it by asking simple conceptual questions after the class and by gradually increasing the level of complexity. I proceed only when I am sure ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate of Arizona State University. Having used tutors myself I know of the great help that they can be to one who is struggling with a certain subject. Having experience with tutors and in tutoring others in mathematics has been a great help and a great source of joy in my life. Using my knowledge and passion for a subject and the ability to use the materials that a student is currently using to teach them is a source of pride for me. I enjoy being able to review a topic to see how it has been presented and then taking ques from the student to find how they best the material and then help them find a way to make it work for them.
I believe that there is not one way to teach everybody. Everyone learns in a different way and at different speeds. I like to help a person understand a topic in the best way for them, not just learn how to use a formula to crank out a num ... read more

Physics is one of my top subjects! I have taught Physics on the high school level for over ten years and at DeVry University for over twenty years.

I am able to break a complex problem into small, discrete steps which the students seem to appreciate. An approach I use in my teaching is the I rarely will tell the student outright what to do to get the answer or just what the answer is. I will quiz the student in the steps they took to reach the point where they are stuck. If there is a misstep they took in their work, I will ask them leading questions in an effort to help them discover where they went astray, followed by questions to help them realize the step they should have taken. Then I will guide them through reasoning out what the remaining steps for solving the problem should be. When I was teaching high school freshman Algebra I, I develop a strategy for mastering word problems that was successful to the point that students actually enjoyed doing word problems.
I have taught both high school and college level c ... read more

Enthusiastic learner and tutor!

With respect to tutoring, I worked during the summer of 2009 as a teachers assistant for a summer-school program known as Korea Poly. The students were 3-6th graders and required assistance in completing homework and practicing and refining their English writing and speaking skills. My duties included checking and correcting homework assignments, and being available during the homework hours for questions and help. In addition I have been the recipient of tutoring before, so I am familiar with student considerations and concerns when it comes to having a tutor.

More About This Tutor...

Math was never an issue for me, I was always ahead of the curve in my math scores, and when I got the chance to relate that math ability to economics, it all made sense. Economics is second-nature to me. Economics puts calculus into real-world situations. Breezed through it in high school and first couple years of college, realized it would be an excellent thing for me to major in. Economics is all about logic, and being a logical person, economics always came easy. When you think logically, you are thinking economically. In economic problems, you always assume the agents in the problem will act in their best interest.

I am especially committed to math and science education and want to help students unlock their full potential so that they can succeed in any area of study and any future professional endeavors that they pursue. I am polite, have a positive attitude and do not judge the student. My approach to teaching is based on building the skills of the student to help them gain confidence and improve their learning experience which will ultimately raise their grades.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a certified Air Force Instructor with two years of experience as a Unit Training Manager. I have 3 years of experience teaching adults how to build computers and install/configure operating systems and applications.
I find that teaching works best if you tailor the material to your audience - i.e. you don't want to lose them OR bore them. Use what they know as a foundation to build on to teach new concepts. If material is difficult or unfamiliar to your class it's important to be prepared in advance with several approaches to get the material across. Review material periodically to reinforce confidence in the students and always make sure they have a firm grasp on material before moving on.

I have tutored math twice, in two different environments. The first time was to native Spanish speakers who were studying to earn their GED. Tutoring was done in small groups, once or twice per week. We covered everything ranging from two digit addition to basic algebra. My second time tutoring, I tutored a high school trigonometry student. I met with the student at her home, at the hours that best suited her. Her grade improved from a C to an A over the course of a semester. My degree is in chemistry, so I feel very comfortable tutoring in that subject. In the course of earning my degree, I was required to take several courses in math and physics, so I would also feel comfortable tutoring those subjects as well.
I remember as a student, often times I could not fully understand a new subject until I learned “why”. I believe that most children (and young adults), being ... read more

My philosophy of teaching can best be understood by interpreting the root word for education. Education comes from the Latin root word educare, which means to draw out. I believe in eliciting their thoughtful responses to the material presented toward them and demonstration of their understanding by applying or telling how the material would be applied to real life situations. I believe that as a ... read more

I love to use examples when I teach and I encourage the students to find their own mistakes. I think that once they can find their mistakes, they have a good grasp of the material. Through my experience with various different types of students, I have learned to adapt to their way of learning. Some may prefer practice while others may prefer hands on methods.
I have been a math and physics tutor at Gateway Community College since 2008 and I have experience in various different styles of tutoring. All the students that I have tutored have seen at least 2 letter grade increase.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is dependent on the student. With some students I find that they just need initial guidance from me before I let them be independent with their assignments. With other students I have found that they need me to hold their hand, so to speak, during the whole process. When that is the case I make sure that the student does not feel inadequate by having me walk them through each assignment. Since I am a graduate student I also implement various ways I learn with the students I teach. I will use auditory and visual modalities of teaching in order to help them develop various senses while they learn.
Currently I am in two graduate programs in the medical field, naturopathic medicine and acupuncture. I feel very confident in my math and sciences. I have had past experience tutoring students at a local Learning Centering in Scottsdale where I worked with children fr ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I aspire to be a tutor who is engaging with the student. Teaching AT the student is something I will not do. I will require my students to utilize their own critical thinking and writing to keep them actively engaged. Second, I will facilitate a stimulating, safe learning environment that will keep the students eager and comfortable about their participation. I view myself as being very personable and will encourage students to ask questions, because I know it can be difficult to ask sometimes. Lastly, I want to help students understand how education will prepare them for the future and assist them in planning their careers. I have been around the sciences want to inspire these kids with my love of the sciences!
