I have worked in a higher education environment since 2000. I tuaught CPR and First Aid classes for 4 years for Child Care providers from 1996 to 2000. I am one class from completing my MBA in accounting. I will officially graduate in May of 2010. I developed a heart for young people at an early age, as my parents were missionaries to Native Americans. I truly believe that education has changed my life and promote higher education. I am able to relate to children of all ages and in the past two years especially related to high school and young college students who were looking for their way in life.

While completing my BBA and MA degrees at Wichita State University, I worked for Student Support Services, a TRIO program located on campus. For eight years I tutored low-income and first generation university students serviced by the program. By utilizing innovative tutoring techniques, I achieved a high success rate. In fact, several of my students graduated from university with honors, a goal initially thought to be unachievable. Statistics have revealed that only thirty three percent of students graduate from university, a dismal situation to say the least. In helping with mathematics, I interact with the student. I try to help the student find the answers. I give hints towards the direction needed to go to solve the problem. If helping with reading, I have the student read to me. If the student is uncomfortable, I read a paragraph and then have the student read the next paragraph. I help the student pronounce words. Most of all, I encourage, by saying, "Great Job."-"Your doing great." I really like math and sharing it with others.
