Experience Summary
I really like math and sharing it with others. While working at Breakthrough as an Educator Coordinator for 2 years, I performed the following: Worked with 75+ clients aged 16 and older in the Education program for adult students with a mental illness,tutored high school math, algebra and geometry, and tutored grammar to a client learning ESL.
In June 2008, successfully completed 9 hours of tutor training taught through Goodwill Adult Literacy program.
I also Assisted a 23 year old client in obtaining his high school diploma through the online Project Encore program by helping him succeed in passing high school algebra and attended the client’s high school graduation.
Teaching Style
In helping with mathematics, I interact with the student. I try to help the student find the answers. I give hints towards the direction needed to go to solve the problem.
If helping with reading, I have the student read to me. If the student is uncomfortable, I read a paragraph and then have the student read the next paragraph. I help the student pronounce words.
Most of all, I encourage, by saying, "Great Job."-"Your doing great."
