Experience Summary
While completing my BBA and MA degrees at Wichita State University, I worked for Student Support Services, a TRIO program located on campus. For eight years I tutored low-income and first generation university students serviced by the program. By utilizing innovative tutoring techniques, I achieved a high success rate. In fact, several of my students graduated from university with honors, a goal initially thought to be unachievable. Statistics have revealed that only thirty three percent of students graduate from university, a dismal situation to say the least. I have an overwhelming desire to increase this percentage exponentially. Only then can we truly say that the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.
Teaching Style
Each student has his or her own unique learning style. A successful tutor is one who can tap into the individual learning styles of his students, no matter how diverse they may be. Only then will a successful communication channel be achieved. I am a true believer in communication, without it success is inhibited. I have achieved great success over the years because I possess the ability to understand the learning styles of my students and create a successful communication channel. As a result, my students are filled with confidence; no challenge is impossible. They are able to progress into the future without fear. This is what fills me with great pride and fuels my determination.
