I volunteer for HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar) every year. This program pushes facilitation, which is what I strive to do. Too many schools criticize a child's ability to learn when the child doesn't respond to the school's one method of teaching. I enjoy finding ways to make concepts simple and fun for the child. My teaching style morphs in order to suit the needs of the student. Working with so many different students one-on-one has enlightened me to the particularities of learning. Each one of my students learned in a different way. Some were more visual, others more theorem/rule based. I try to hone in on what their strengths are and build from there.
