My comments on tutoring Poetry : Have wide experience in poetry and have published a couple of personal poems in small literary presses.

I believe in creating routines to add structure to the learning environment as most of my students progress better in a very structure classroom. I have been noted in my evaluations as making solid connections with most of my students by taking a personal interest in their academic progress. While I do not believe in extrinsic rewards, I will use them to motivate students when necessary. I am organized and pride myself in being able to stick to the lesson plans I have devised.

Communication is key, so I will look for the specific interests that a particular student has and connect with where their strengths reside. From there we can build on these high points and draw them into other areas where their abilities need improvement.
I worked as a tutor while doing respite work for United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County in California. I am proud to say that the young man I worked with the longest is now finishing his BA in justice studies at Cal State Dominguez Hills. I also tutored as a substitute aid for the Ocean View School District in Orange County, California. After earning my BA in journalism from CSUF I have published in a number of print and online media outlets, and I am currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing.

I have a big heart and teach using my heart. I teach towards all learning abilities slowing down when I need to or speeding up the process if need be. I love my students and I work with them as hard as I can to push both of us to success. I am very patient. This past year I worked with students who were behind their fellow classmates and I reached success with almost all of them.
I have been in some type of teaching experience for five years. I have interned at two Junior High Schools and one High school.
