I have a collaborative style of teaching. My ultimate goal is to get students to think, regardless of their age. With younger students, I tend to be much more directive so that we accomplish intended learning. With middle and high school students, I ask "Why" and "How do you know" quite often so that they learn to provide evidence for their thinking. I used both teacher-centered and student-centered styles because although coaching and facilitating a student in understanding the language, having the knowledge of which countries speak the language and the different terminology used by each countries can be a benefit to a student.
