Having a love of language and having a desire to be able to teach at all levels, I obtained an MA in English from the UNC-G. I have had 43 years of teaching and tutoring at all levels, elementary through college. I have taught high school English, college English, SAT Prep, and GRE Prep---both the verbal and the math (I scored almost 800 on the math section). A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a full-time certified Florida mediator in family and circuit civil cases since 1988. I meet with people who are divorcing or otherwise suing each other and persuade them, if I can, to settle their differences. Since the collapse of the housing market in Florida, and the elimination of home equity from which people financed mediation, the business has contracted substantially. While being a mediator for 22 years, it was my responsibility to tutor and mentor for people trying to become mediators. I spent several hours a month through my career doing such work. A Little Bit About Me...

Of the essence in tutoring is to make the subject pertinent and fun, as well as applicable to everyday life. For small children, we have phonetics to help the child master sounds and words. I do use Ipod teaching games to involve the child actively.
