I have a B.A. in Technical Theatre. This knowledge in the backstage end of theatre deals greatly in literature, particularly the study of dramatic writing. Having graduated Magna Cum Laude I am confident in my literary experience and my ability to pass it on to children of all ages. I tailor my tutoring to the student's personal experiences and background, in order that he/she has a real connection to the material. I strive to explain fully the practical purpose of any subject we are covering, as well as how study of a given subject can, does, and will enrich the student's life, now and in the years to come. My philosophy on teaching is not centered just on the concept at hand, but rather on the goal of helping the student develop the skills to expand on that concept and apply them to other problems. When I tutored other college students at the UW, I helped my students explore topics from every possible angle we could think of so that the student can fully develop a solid grasp of that topic, and lay down the foundations needed to be able to apply that learning and understanding to other situations and problems. Thus, even with a limited set of practice problems, I believe that with the right approach, a student can learn to work their way through an unlimited set of problems, given the proper tools and a solid foundation on a subject.
