My teaching style can adapt to whatever my student needs very easily. The tutor can change, but the student cannot. I am a recently graduated IB/AP student. My teaching style is very interactive. I like to begin a tutoring session by helping the student set a goal for the session. We then begin work on the material. During the session I encourage the student's learning by asking open-ended questions to encourage critical thinking. With writing assignments, the pen is always in the student's hand and, with guidance, the student makes choices about his or her writing. I use a method I call guided discovery, which encourages students to think in depth about their subject, discovering new methods and information with guidance from me. My methods are very effective, yet unconventional. This serves both you and me very well because I like what I do and you get the knowledge you're seeking. I can always understand a student's individual needs because I have been around such a large variety of learning styles. Also, I believe that a "set" lesson plan is worthless for English because who's to say that everyone with a specific problem is not understanding it for the same reason? One person may not understand the use of paragraph formation for a completely different reason than the next.
