The situations ranged from one-on-one to outdoor labs and from the classroom to small groups. As a manager of engineering departments at four consulting firms opportunities arose to tutor numerous individuals in both classroom and field settings and the topics were applied math involving physics, algebra, calculus and geometry. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a math tutor as a student worker during my last 3 years of college while working on my BS in Computer Science until 2004. I had previously studied at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and had an extensive background in Math. I taught at a Catholic High School, Messmer, for one year after graduation until 2005, before returning to ITT as an adjunct instructor. I became a fulltime Math tutor 2 years ago and hold that position today. My teaching style is highly interactive and somewhat Socratic in that I will ask a number of questions to the student before giving an answer. In doing so, I can diagnose what information the student knows and find out where they may be lacking. Additionally I try to communicate with the student in a language they understand. If the student is a visual learner I would try to show examples whereas a student that is more auditory, I would spend more time talking and using stories to communicate information. The combination of these techniques have been quite successful for me over the past many years.
