My teaching style is highly interactive and somewhat Socratic in that I will ask a number of questions to the student before giving an answer. In doing so, I can diagnose what information the student knows and find out where they may be lacking. Additionally I try to communicate with the student in a language they understand. If the student is a visual learner I would try to show examples whereas a student that is more auditory, I would spend more time talking and using stories to communicate information. The combination of these techniques have been quite successful for me over the past many years.

Most of my students are at-risk or attention deficit students, so I employ a style where I emphasize a good set of basic skills and knowing why we use the techniques we utilize. Most of my methods are visual and I emphasize laying down the structure of the solution when useful. I always tell why each step is used.
