A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Development. However, before Human Development was my major, it was English Language. Through my four years at a major university, I have learned how to properly write research essays, what sources are credible for essays, and essay format. I also have had a pet-peeve for words that are incorrecly spelled and when there are grammatical errors in something professionally done.
I believe that children all come with different levels of cognition. Therefore, each child has their own learning pace. I like to give a child the time that he needs in order to accomplish his goal in learning. I have patience and am understanding--this would be a great benefit in working with children who need a little extra help in their studies.

I thoroughly enjoy working with students in any learning atmosphere. I have learned through years of working in both, a volunteer and school atmosphere, that each child has different paces and learning styles. What works for one child may be all wrong for another. A Little Bit About Me...

While I have taught in various ways and capacities throughout my life, I have always enjoyed most teaching one-on-one. As an undergraduate Spanish minor I tutored fellow undergraduates learning Spanish. As a graduate student I worked as a political science teaching assistant and taught my own classes in American and ethnic literature and culture. As an assistant professor of Ethnic and Mexican American Studies at St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities I taught various classes on American culture, history, and literature. Throughout my undergraduate studies at BYU, I taught and tutored in Spanish for up 24 hours each week. I supervised 5 districts of students, 10 teachers and up to 65 students at one time, while still teaching in the classroom. Additionally, I graded papers for college-level business courses for several years. As part of this experience, I provided feedback on writing, grammar, and content. I have now been a TA for more than 30 college business courses. I have finished all pre-medicine science classes with a science GPA of 3.3.
