Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. I believe that the best way to learn is to have someone discover for themself or find a way to teach themselves the concept. That way, the knowledge will mean much more than if someone just tells them the answer, or tells the student how to do the problem. In tutoring, I help guide the child to what they need to be doing without giving them the answer or spelling it out too much for them.
