A Little Bit About Me...

The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without. To me, the process of asking questions and allowing the student's curiosity and intelligence to reach conclusions is far more effective than one-sided lecturing. I am endlessly creative, coming up with myriad examples to illustrate concepts.
In 2006 I taught graphic design topics at Westwood College. In 2007 I taught the same subject at The Creative Circus (roughly equivalent to an MBA program for designers, writers, photographers, and art directors). I was introduced to teaching as a guitar teacher and loved the field of education ever since. My first school experience was teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies in Queens, N.Y.in 1979. Finally, I found my niche in high school teaching various subjects such as Physical Science, Biology, Social Studies and tutoring after school programs for the passing of the high school graduation tests. In 1993 I moved to Georgia and became fully certified in the fields of Physical Science, Health and P.E.and ESOL. I love working with children because they have such a youthfulness that is full of life and ready to take on new challenges.
