Justin B. - Coalville, UT 84017 (26.7 mi) - $27.5/hr.

In 2007, I began studying Russian Language at the University of Wyoming. As part of my studies, I spent two consecutive semesters living in Russia and taking intensive Russian courses at Saratov State University, one of the top 50 research institutions in the Russian Federation. This time spent in Russia was crucial in attaining my current level of Russian. In Saratov, I typically spent 15-20 hours a week in private lessons with native teachers, specially trained to teach Russian as a foreign language. After I developed a solid grasp of the language, we started focusing on more specific elements of the language, such as phonetics, syntax, and lexicology. I also took and passed the Russian as a Foreign Language exam at the first level, which enables one to study at the university level. Upon my return to the states, contacted by the tutoring department at the University of Wyoming and sub ... read more

Having fun and practicality are essential! I have several younger siblings whom I have often helped tutor. I previously worked at a group home for troubled youth and one of my responsibilities was to help them with their homework. I am more experienced with kids ages 12-18 but am able and willing to help learners of all ages! I served for two years in Taiwan as an LDS missionary and grew to love the Chinese people and language. I am currently continuing to develop my Mandarin Chinese language skills at BYU. I am fluent in speaking, semi-fluent in reading and writing.

I do not wish to be a tutor. I was actually hoping to FIND a tutor in Russian. Beyond the basics, I'm afraid I would not be much use in teaching anything to anyone. I would like find a tutor who can help me with simple conversation. I was hoping to find a tutor somewhere near Park City but am willing to drive as far as Salt Lake City.

I have recently graduated from UNLV with a BA in fine art with minors in art history and criminal justice. I have taken classes in education and am pursuing a master's degree in art history so I can teach on the college level. I have taught and tutored many individuals in art, English, and math. I was on the math team in high school and have gone to nationals for Science Olympiad so I can also tutor in the science related subjects. I volunteered at Arbor View High School art department in Las Vegas which helped me to gain a greater base on how to help students. From teaching and tutoring various children I have learned each child has a different understanding of the same subject. I have adapted to help each child I have worked with the achieve their individual understanding and success. Recently, I have helped tutor students in photography classes and I found many teachers push the

I have not taught professionally, but I do have to help roommates and classmates with their work on a regular basis. I like to give them little tricks and tips for figuring out different kinds of problems. I don't like to just tell them how to do the problem. Instead I want them to figure it out on their own with my guidance and advice. I am patient but I also want the people I help to succeed. I am currently between my junior and senior year at Coastal Carolina University where I have a 3.998 GPA. I have received many honors and awards for my academic achievement such as induction to the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. I have always received excellent grades in math and science, but also in the humanities. My mother is a middle school teacher who has taught at all levels of education. I have been to her classes to assist her in teaching her students math and reading skills. I a

I think patience and coaching are the most important tools in tutoring. Based on my experience, a rule or lesson is better retained if the student is vested in the answer by their own efforts. That being said, I like to give the tool, the hint, or the rule before I ever just give an answer: that way the student has an opportunity to learn the rule or remember the process for themselves while they figure out the answer. I would never, however, let a student stew in frustration if they could not come up with an answer on their own as that only puts up blockers and hinders learning. While in law school, I assisted students enrolled in a summer program with residential advising and subject mentoring/tutoring. The program was offered through CLEO and hosted by Valparaiso with classes being taught by visiting professors from participating schools. The program launched students with passin

The most effective way to instruct students is through experience. Unless a student can take hold of a subject for himself and make it his own, he will never master the information. My past tutoring experience has prepared me well to show students that they can succeed in any subject. Students first have to be told that they can achieve anything as long as they accomplish their very best. I believe that one of the best ways to introduce a subject is through a hands on approach. Teachers have to be the bridge to a child's educational success. Having begun my first year of teaching in the fall of 2010, I realize that my heart is truly in education. In May of 2010 I received my bachelor degree, BS in Early Childhood Education. During my educational preparation at Franciscan University of Steubenville, I worked in the surrounding schools for over 200 hours. I was fortunate to observe

I was in the top 10% of my class at an elite college preparatory school and earned a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago. This has exposed me to great teachers and a variety of different teaching styles. I studied cello and piano formally for 7 and 10 years, respectively, and taught cello for 2 years. In high school I taught Adult English-as-a-Second Language classes for 2 years. I've also taught skiing and guided young children in after school art and literature programs for several years. My diverse education and experiences have led to my deep understanding of art, literature, history, math, science, and business. I have written numerous essays on art and literature, research papers, lab reports, and analytical reports. My rigorous education has given me substantial insight into the "total package" needed to learn and succeed at a high level. The ability to learn mat
