I have been one of the tutors on the Adult Learning Center staff at the Johnson County Public Library in Franklin, Indiana since 1998, and my tutoring work has mostly been concentrated in teaching English for the past eleven years. I also spent approximately three years (2002-2005) tutoring boys at the Indiana Juvenile Correctional Facility (Indiana Boy’s School), covering mostly English, math and GED preparation. My education focused heavily on English and math, having taken the most advanced courses in each discipline. After graduating in 1996, I opened my own tutoring service in Dickson, TN. I tutored individuals from public schools and home school in Math, Reading, and several other subjects needed until 2001. At this time I left Dickson and moved to Clarksville, TN and tutored with A+ Math tutoring intil 2006. Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I believe students will always be frustrated till they learn the material and if you make it interesting and related to them personally it tends to elivate the frustration and to feel more comfortable with the material. As a graduate from Tennessee Tech University, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Elementary Education.
