Experience Summary
As a graduate from Tennessee Tech University, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Elementary Education. My field experience during college (practicum assignments and student teaching) allowed me to work with a broad range of children – from kindergarten to fifth grade. During my time as a student teacher in a small private school setting, I also worked one-on-one with students who needed additional assistance in math. This is my second year teaching third grade in Clarksville, as well as my second year teaching in the Before School Program, which allows me to tutor 7-8 students each morning. As a classroom teacher, I work each day with third grade students in small group settings, specifically in the areas of reading and math.
Teaching Style
My convictions for teaching are deeply rooted. Being a teacher is at the core of who I am. I am patient, understanding, and considerate with each child. I maintain a positive attitude, full of encouragement, in order to provide the best education possible. I believe that if teachers are able to have positive attitudes and project a general attitude of success and achievement, students are more likely to believe that they can achieve. Before we can teach a student anything, we must first instill in them the belief that they are capable of succeeding. If we can spark interest in a student and then project that positive attitude in a safe, productive learning community, we give each student a chance to succeed.
