I double-majored in biology in chemistry in undergrad, so the field of science and medicine is my first love and my strength. I have also received a Masters of Public Health Degree in Epidemiology, and have since completed my 2nd year of medical school. I have always had a strong affinity for math and english as well. I have a published thesis paper that was constructed and presented as required for my masters curriculum. I have been tutoring since I was in high school, and have tutored elementary to college level courses.
I have a relaxed, stress-free teaching style, while staying on task and topic. I make sure the pupils really understand the material by breaking things down to the basics, and reviewing the foundations. Teaching is more than a job for me, I really enjoy helping my students. I believe that all children have the ability and the desire to learn. Some students need a little more attention and enouragement. I enjoy getting to know my students so that I can find their strengths and weaknesses and build on them.
I began my experience teaching at a small school. I taught 7/8 grade general science, ninth grade earth and space science, and tenth grade biology. I enjoy working with children and helping them meet academic goals. As a tutor my job would be to find out how a child learns best. Learning styles can include auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Children also need engaging,interesting, and varied activities during their learning experiences. Another key point would be to identify strengths and weaknesses and to build a plan based on that information. I feel that all children can succeed.
I have been teaching middle school science for the past eight years at a local Middle School. My endorsement is in biology.
