The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. My comments on tutoring Writing : I have been writing consistently for the last 12 years, in several genres. I mainly write poetry and stories, although I can write research/opinion papers for my college classes.

I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in English, with an emphasis on Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University online. I have been writing for almost twenty years, although I have been writing poetry since I was in high school. I have been published in a book of poetry (although it wasn't widely distributed), and I love to teach people about Shakespeare because of how much I enjoy learning about the time period and writing styles of the period.

Learning can be fun!

I am currently teaching English as a second language to post-secondary international students at California State University Sacramento. I teach all areas of English, including grammar, composition, reading, and listening and speaking skills. I have taught beginning English to refugees in Sacramento, as well as English as a foreign language in Guatemala and Honduras. I have always had a love of reading and writing. I was wrote poetry, wrote for the yearbook, and was working on a book while still in high school. Upon matriculation at Colby, I enrolled in organic chemistry and decided to major in chemistry. I continued my studies in chemistry and additional areas of interest, including math, government, and economics. Before graduating I participated in an NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates at UC Riverside. With the guidance of my primary investigator and a grad student, I gained experience doing research into the fabrication of nano-structures (in this case, reusable and gas-specific sensing devices, or an "e-nose").
