A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a classroom teacher for the past four years in both elementary and middle school. Both of my parents are educators, so I spent a great deal of time tutoring and volunteering in schools prior to my teaching career. I also have a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. My strengths are in the areas of language arts, reading, and social sciences.
I like to observe children to determine what learning styles best fit their personalities and strengths. I believe in the capabilities of all children, when their teachers find the proper ways to motivate and support their learning. I find that building a trusting relationship in which students feel comfortable asking questions and thinking critically are best for making gains.

During my college career, I worked in lower income elementary schools to provide students an extra opportunity to heighten their reading skills through direct instruction. Through this experience I have gained new insight into teaching reading. I understand the importance of using small groups and one-on-one instruction. I have also had the chance to use Success for All, a different type of reading instruction.
