Marine Biology is one of my top subjects! I am a SCUBA diving instructor focusing on Oceanography and Marine Biology. I specialize in teaching safe and responsible scuba diving and marine conservation to children, young adults, and families. Scuba diving provides that ability to observe the aquatic environment first hand in a way not possible through textbook and classroom settings. I have over 20 years of scuba diving experience and have certified/registered over 500 students, and have many references available on request. I have both in-water and classroom only programs available.

Having a biology and pre-veterinary science undergraduate degree, and now a master’s degree in marine science, I have a great foundation to tutor students in math and science. I have always had strong math skills and can tutor in algebra, calculus, and geometry. I have taught 2nd through 12th grade in an informal setting as a science educator at the Newark Museum in NJ and at the graduate level as a teaching assistant at my marine science institution. A Little Bit About Me...

I have noticed first-hand that teaching is not a one-way street where the teacher transfers knowledge to students strictly from the syllabus. I feel that teaching involves a constant quid pro quo between the teacher and the students – the teacher learns as much from the student as the student does from the teacher. I am a firm believer of a very practical approach to teaching, especially the sciences, that emphasizes ‘learning by doing’, a method that I myself as a student loved and have seen work in students I have interacted with over the years.
