I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Illinois University. I attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Il to obtain Secondary Teaching Certification in Science. I taught Biology and Chemistry in the Rockford School District #205 at Rockford East High School for 4 years from 2002 - 2006. I taught Biology, Chemistry and Algebra at Judah Christian Jr./Sr. High School for 1 year from 2007 - 2008. I was an instructional tutor for Huntington Learning Center for 1 year from 2006 - 2007. I love teaching and working with all children to achieve their best.I believe that every child can learn but of course in different ways. I'm a strong believer in the Gardner's ideas of many different learning styles and types of intelligent. Some students are better audio, tactile, or visual learners. I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to find the best learning style for each student and build on that format through scaffolding. I love nothing better than to see the light bulb go off in a students mind. This also helps them to realize that learning can be a fun adventure. I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.

I have previously worked as a shift supervisor at Starbucks, which has given me experience training, coaching, and delegating duties to other employees.
